The app generates stories with custom images and audio, fostering brain development, emotional growth, and family bonding. By making bedtime reading more engaging and educational, Dreamy AI stands out in the crowded app market.
At the time of the audit, the app was in the MVP stage, competing in a highly competitive environment. It faced challenges in user retention, engagement, and monetization while trying to secure its place in the market. The monetization strategy included generating stories up to 5 minutes long for free, with longer stories available on paid plans and a 7-day free trial for premium features.
Audit Process
During the audit, we:
- Analyzed the Paywall: Reviewed the existing paywall strategy designed for the MVP stage. We provided recommendations for refining the emotional phrasing and layout to improve conversion rates. Additionally, we suggested running A/B tests for three alternative paywall versions designed by the client.
- Evaluated Monetization: Assessed the subscription model and pricing strategy. We explored alternatives, including a lower-cost subscription for unlimited access to the story library with in-app purchases for premium resources. These changes aimed to optimize revenue while balancing user needs and operational expenses.
- Reviewed Onboarding: Evaluated the onboarding flow, which introduced features like a cartoon-style child avatar and a one-paragraph story preview. We recommended enhancements to improve engagement, such as clearer prompts encouraging users to subscribe to unlock full stories.
- Examined Usability: Conducted a usability review of the story player and identified opportunities for making the user experience more seamless and engaging.
